I will say there is one, and probably only one, positive thing I have seen from DRM, and that is Movies Anywhere, although, it could also be done without DRM.
The fact that for many movie companies you can purchase the movie once and get credit across all of the popular platforms is pretty awesome.
Other than that, I can't say DRM has had any positive impact on any industry, and the purchase sync idea could be done without it.
