Sports are a great outlet for human tribalism. People like to group themselves against a common enemy. This is a nonviolent way to do it. I also enjoy demonstrating my athletic abilities and skill in competitive settings. If you’ve ever been good at the sport, you’re more likely to enjoy watching.
