For the majority of customers it's still just points. They don't have to know that it's sats in background.
Company gets to hold sats on balance sheet. As the sats/dollar goes down company is losing less on freebies.
Ie. 5000 sats gets burrito but those sats were issued at 2000 sat/$ and redeemed at 1000 sat/$
