Wiki states that each missile has 4 mirvs. No conventional warhead is mentioned and none of the videos show much so it's likely that they were just inert in the terminal phase.
From the various public videos it doesn't look like the mirvs come in a random pattern but I'm not an expert.
I believe the message was much more important than the raw damage.
