I’ve seen variations of this passage in countless news articles about January 6th. I wish they would stop.

Our “darkest days” are enslaving Black folks, placing Japanese Americans in prison camps, killing indigenous people while stealing their land, infecting Black folks with syphilis, and on and on.

January 6th was no joke. But it’s not at the top of the list.
