Just realized there are 30TB 2.5" SSDs around since 2020, some even not that expensive. Samsung, Intel, Kioxia… One petabyte in 1U.
Back in «my day» it took a rack or two. The TCO per TB is approaching parity with HDDs.
We're getting close to fitting the *whole* Netflix (1080p HEVC) + the *whole* Spotify (256k AAC) on a 1U server for under $100k upfront + zero opex.
Meanwhile the capacity and bandwidth of the human brain remains relatively constant.
