after setting these settings automatically, after an import, it uses about 1.5gb but then settles back down to about 250mb of memory
in normal operation without this kind of rapid fire event storing it will stick nicely around 250mb of memory utilization
having that memory free allows the kernel disk cache to function better too, so its latency is actually improved!
