Losing my patience in a rare moment of irritation w/ work boomers. The gatekeeping, the arrogant braggadocio it takes to rub your nose in the life they got to lead - the life they BRAG about to your face, while proudly preventing that world's return - really wears on me in a novel and irritating way.
It's always the same, they brag about the fun, the ease, the jobs, and then say "woah no way you can't do that! I know I got that job with 1/5th the experience and certification you did, gaining me greater earning years and zero educational debt, but we can't let anyone do that anymore because....it's better for everyone else! No, it's wrong to expect ME to meet that same standard, but you should! Instead of whining about the lofty requirements of the post-hartcellar world you just need to suck it up and play the game"
It's still refreshing to tell them "I want you to remember this in 20 years when you wake up in confusion to realize they put you in a commercial home. When the haitian orderly comes to gruffly wipe your ass, remember that you said 'society doesn't own you a fuckin' thing!!! You don't have a RIGHT to anything!!!' "
