What you can do is to pull it, if the pain eases when pulling straight but gets worse at any angle then it’s a subluxation.
If it relieves the pain but with no real difference for all angles then it’s probably related to the surface(s) of the bones inside the joint, so either a compression injury or more likely arthritis or similar
