So many painful examples like this.
I tinkered with Bitcoin back in 2014. I really liked the libertarian principles and the idea behind it, but at the time I just could not envision a world where the US government and Federal Reserve would allow a currency to gain a foothold that competes with the US dollar.
Additionally, I just assumed that at some point in the future a technology would come along that would be able to successfully exploit the network. And if that does occur, I would expect the price of Bitcoin would fall to near zero.
If I had committed back in 2014 I would be living a completely different life. Now I'm just scraping by on an average IT salary exhausted, tired, and no longer passionate about the world...ugh.
