Imagine you link to a image in a nostr note. However the server where the image is stored shuts down or whatever. Instead of linking the image directly, you could link its hash. Another server will now store this image or - will try to retrieve the image from a couple of archive servers and will store it on a temporal location for you to look at. This is blossom.
