Finally got back to my Arizona house last night after three months away and a month of desert adventures. Filled up the birdfeeder and hummingbird feeder and it only took a few minutes for my little bird friends to come back. I'm totally blown away by how quickly they figure out that there's food here again.

Just now a little hummingbird came up, buzzed around the feeder and then flew over and hovered right in front of my face about a foot away for 20 seconds and then went back up and drank some of the nectar from the feeder. I like to imagine it was saying " hi! Welcome back and thanks for the food."
