Alright, I ordered an RG405M and a separate matte screen protector. It was significantly more expensive than the Pocket 2S (like, Pocket 4 Pro territory), but I think I'll be happier with the bigger screen, boost in performance, metal shell, and the custom firmware.
Now to wait however long it takes Anbernic to ship it.
