I’m a sucker for the old-timey Brewitt-Taylor translation of Three Kingdoms, but that’s mostly nostalgia talking because it’s all I had access to in high school. The Moss Roberts edition is the quintessential translation today.
I don’t about Warring States, but Jianjun He‘s Spring and Autumn Annals is the best edition I know of out there.
When it comes to history, do you have a particular era you’re interested in? Early Xia and Shang era? Classic Zhou? End of Zhou (and Warring States)? Qin? Han? Three Kingdoms? Or just a general interest in overarching history, warfare, philosophical schools, etc? I can try to direct you to some good books based on your particular interest.
