I honestly doubt they've made money on SW. In addition to the $4 billion just to get the IP, they've also had massive problems with budget overruns caused by major reshoots. The production budget for The Rise of Skywallker alone was rumored to run over $500 million.
That's why some of their planned output (such as the Kenobi series) had to be downgraded from movies to tv shows, the money just wasn't there. Likewise there's been a ton of stuff that was cancelled (the Han Solo trilogy, Rian Jonhson's trilogy, etc.). Not to mention the toy merchandise has been collecting dust on shelves for years.
