Rest in peace Kenneth Mitchell 1974-2024

His children were quite young when Kenneth Mitchell’s ALS presented. He seemed very committed to spending as much time with his children as possible in his last years, while working as much as he could to the end.
It says so much about him that in the relatively brief time since his diagnosis in 2018, he did so much for representation of persons with disabilities and chronic illness, including but not limited to ALS.
My thoughts also go out to Michelle Yeoh and those in the crew currently making S31 who knew and worked with Ken.
Michelle herself was a friend to Kenneth, and had arranged for him to have cutting edge treatment in South Korea. She personally accompanied him there according to an interview he gave. Unfortunately, that course of treatment would have been interrupted by the pandemic lockdowns in 2020-2021.
And my thoughts go to Mary Chieffo. Such a close and supportive friend and fellow recurrent actor on Discovery. She helped him continue to work as Tenevik in season two, as well as on Star Trek the cruise.
