What I found more interesting was reference to 18 USC 241 and 242 as both being applicable against state officials who infringe on the rights of voters and other citizens. This thing can be broadly expanded to go after Greg Abbott, Ron DeSantis and the state legislatures in places as diverse as Ohio, Georgia and North Carolina who are trying to curtail voting rights to their citizens. It can be brought against legislatures that enact gerrymandered maps or attempt to limit drop boxes. It can also be brought against Texas for trying to take over administration of the elections in Harris County and elsewhere. It can also be used against state officials who take over local cities and deprive those citizens of the right to vote for their elected officials (see Jackson, Mississippi). It can even be applied broadly against states that interfere with anyone's rights - including abortion or affirming care. It's powerful; DOJ just needs to wield it...
