Retro game for the night on Halloween was Castlevania Legends. (Orginally released in 1997, or 1998 outside of Japan.)

I first learned of this game via the pages of Nintendo Power. It looked really good and appealing to me, so it was shock to learn later on that it's regarded as one of the worst entries in the Castlevania franchise.
