I listen to people I really can't say I like a lot, and whose past appalls me, but who still seem worth hearing because they're at least speaking out against some real dangers confronting us — e.g., Charles Sykes. But I never listen uncritically. I'm aware there's a lot I don't share ideologically with people like Sykes.
