Story posted by #Ukraine HUR sheds some light on the recent activities of Ukrainian Navy in the Black Sea over the last few weeks.
> During patrolling in the waters of the Black Sea by fighters of the special unit of the Defence Ministry's GUR "Artan", an enemy Su-27 aircraft attacked a Ukrainian boat. As a result of manoeuvring the boat, the fighter with the call sign "Conan" found himself overboard in the open sea. Being under dense fire of Russian aviation, our boat was forced to retreat. But no one was going to leave our brother-in-law to his own devices.
> Almost immediately, Bayraktar TB2 flew out to search for our colleague and found our fighter. Further for evacuation was sent a group of several boats, which through the fire of Russian fighters tried to break through to the warrior. Eventually it succeeded and the fellow soldier was rescued. He spent more than 12 hours on the high seas and survived.
Artan said that Conan is now a legend not only for the unit, but for all special forces.
The story of Su-27 assault on Ukrainian boats was widely published by Russian media, in the usual form: "dozens of enemy boats destroyed, hundreds of enemy soldiers killed". Taken all together however both stories testify to a rather grim new reality for Russian — they have barely any control over Black Sea anymore if Ukrainian SSO can sail here and there while flying Bayraktar 24/7 for search and rescue operation. I think Russians also lost or had damaged one of their assault planes as result of MANPADS fired from the boats too.
