I'm taking a long detour from my Veilidchat bot/game project to do a lovingly hand crafted file-by-file Python port of Veilid and Veilidchat helpers. As much as is possible this will replicate the best practices on display in Veilidchat, but will stop short of UI and full app implemention.
My initial quick-and-dirty approach worked, mostly, but required so much fiddling to emulate the many layers of abstraction and libraries and namespace confusions that I'm backing up and doing it thoroughly now.
I think this will end up with some pieces going upstream, and some growing into pattern libraries for Veild and Veilidchat. Even if none of that comes to fruition I hope it will get more Python peeps interested and engaged with the project.
*Then* I can build the utterly stupid chatbot / game of my dreams.
