Context: Tor Project's executive director (a Brazilian, apparently) published the following article, endorsed by the Tor project itself.

The decision by the supreme court has two parts:
Banning X.
Fining everyone that uses vpn to curcunvent the decision.
Even the state sponsored media was against the latter, citing that people use VPN for other reasons.
She followed exactly that narrative, saying that the former is ok, and that "Elon is not above the law" (even though he's the only following Brazilian law).
As someone living in this mess and exposing myself the risk of being jailed for running tor-related things in a dictatorship, I thought the Tor Project would stand against the abuse of authority and complete erosion of free speech here. The fact that they think it's ok, makes me not wanting taking this risk anymore.
I still run some publicly reachable Bitcoin node unde my personal IP, bacause I believe in Bitcoin and I want the network to succeed. I have an average of 300 simultaneous connections and upload an average of 2TB/month, helping others to connect with the network and download stuff.
I used to do that for Tor too, but I won't do that anymore. I don't care what other do or think, I'm just not taking this risk anymore.
