I do find it annoying sometimes but I also take it to mean that people on here actually want to improve the world they live in, so if they strongly believe in something they'll try to convince others. I actually appreciate that aspect of Masto most of the time. On twitter the goal was engagement (whatever the content). On here the goal is more about good content (whatever the engagement) so people will say what they think even if it costs them engagement.
From the receiving end of the scolding my approach is: either the scolder is maybe a little bit right, and the guilt they make us feel is a little deserved and might even lead to a change of behaviour.. Or the scolder is not right and we shouldn't feel any guilt and should be able to completely ignore the scolding.
For example:
is it bad to be on Twitter? I believe so and I did delete my Twitter account after some time of being on Mastodon, possibly because I was influenced by twitter-scolding which strongly resonated with my own opinions.
is it bad to use windows? Yes, and it would probably be better if we all used Linux, but I already tried and realized it was a waste of time for me, so now I either ignore or even laugh at the Windows-scolding because I made up my mind
TLDR I believe most of the Mastodon scolding is well-intentioned and has some value, and if not it's relatively easy to ignore it.
But also: the idea to have "mood filters" on here would be fun..
