I think introverts might be attracted to living in foreign-speaking places because it normalizes their introvertedness. There's no pressure to communicate because you simply can't, and it's a mutual struggle when you have to, so everyone understands and you feel equal. And whatever communication you do succeed in feels like an accomplishment.
