That wasn't the only fatal airship accident though. The US navy lost two of them to storms and the brits built one that unbalanced itself and nosedived into the french countryside.
I think the problems associated with them could be solved, but they are way more vulnerable to adverse weather than fixed wing aircraft and probably always would be. Plus the massive cost of building hangers for them and how slow they travel.
All that said, a modern hindenburg made with carbon fiber and such would be epic. I would 100% travel in it. Their main selling point is that they can potentially moor just about anywhere, including the top of skyscrapers. There's no need to build enormous airports for them and they can deliver to the middle of cities.
I think one could work if it was designed as a cruise ship. Or possibly a ferry to take passengers from the airport to city center.
