I wish "overwhelm" was taken seriously by more professionals and understood as a true barrier for some people, hindering/impacting access to situations in daily living.

EG: Why dont I do x, y, z, when I am perceived as "capable"? Reason: Overwhelm.

Parable: Why I dont pick up a hot baking sheet without a potholder? Pretty sure my skin would be overwhelmed with heat.

Reducing sensory input would be healthier for me.

Noise, smell, pace, visual, etc: potential sources of overwhelm.
