A lot of people like to claim that the "properly mature" palate will appreciate bitter flavours. Which of course conversely means, that if you don't like bitter, your palate is immature.
I call nonsense. Bitter is just flat out horrible. Just because you have to teach yourself to ignore it being horrible, doesn't make you any more "mature".
Yes, I may have a personal peeve about this.
Although I've since theorised that I may just be unusually sensitive to bitter flavours, thus instinctively disliking them. There's been several times I've had food that I found bitter, but the Spouse did not.
On the other hand, I seem to be unusually unsensitive to sour, as I'll happily eat raw lemon.
