We're trying this Hochdörfle Hopfengärtle tonight, a classic German Pilsner from Swabia.
The brewery grows hops and it shows. The hop bitterness is very smooth and blends well into the honey-like malt note. A touch of floral and piney hop flavor is present too but restrained, not "I punch you in the face"-IPA-levels. Lean body, nice carbonation.
Lovely. Not just the typical mediocre regional brewery German Pilsner. Even the girlfriend liked it and Pilsners are her least favorite style.
