Fascist and conservative movements derive their power from declaring themselves “normal”, everyone else “abnormal”, and then smashing everything in reach while their opponents are on permanent defense.

Challenging conservatives’ claims to “normal” “common sense” directly subverts this power. One of the most effective ways for a white dude to shut down an asshole making bigoted jokes is to just not accept that “everyone is thinking it”.
