Everyone who opposes tariffs has an economic reason for doing so. If it’s an academic, it’s typically observed with without the context or complexity of the real world. If it’s business, then profits are involved. Tariffs are for both economic and national security reasons, and that is the purview of the policy maker. For the last 30 years the academicians and the business community has dominated the policy decisions in Washington DC, and we are a weaker nation because of it.
