Living in Alaska for the past 16 winters, I use ice grippers daily for almost half the year. They are a lifesaver. I have tried a lot of brands and Yak Trax diamond grip is my favorite. They stay on boots well and provide plenty of traction. The only drawback is that the steel cables eventually rust out and break. Applying WD-40 helps to a certain extent. My wife prefers to wear Ice Bugs, boots with integrated spikes.
