This form of research is called "media comparison study."
I have yet to see a valid study that finds anything but "no significant difference."
Even if you account for identical font, page, layout, and presentation, it's impossible to account for the base variation reader's ability and fluency, or any number of extraneous aspects of reading comprehension that bedevil reading instruction at its foundation.
Even ambient lighting during the testing matters but isn't controlled.
