I will admit that human-sized ants are unlikely. But, please consider just how much more formidable a colony of cat-sized ants might be. Consider the considerable increase in individual intelligence ... the multiplier of group intelligence.

Of course, specialization is part of ant success, so they wouldn't all be cat-sized. They could range from just over a mm long up to about 40cm

I know evolution doesn't have a direction or a goal... but would this not be a pinnacle!
