Typology of Musicians
Being in bands since the 00s, I’ve met a lot of (mostly rock) musicians. I certainly have some bias as a drummer, but I swear these patterns in musician personalities just keep repeating.
It goes like this:
🎤 Singers can be the kindest people in the world—until they instantly turn into bloody carnage the moment you answer honestly when they ask what you think of their new song, latest show, or the color of their new stage pants.
One does not simply share their true opinions with singers. But I think we can all agree that it’s part of their magic.
🎸 Guitarists are often the creative directors of bands. A bit more grounded than singers, guitarists tend to take things way too seriously and are quick to start egotripping.
That said, their vision, combined with the ability to actually get things moving, is often the key attribute for a band to make progress.
🎸 Bass players play it cool, but in fact, they are beings from a different planet. Deep thinkers, usually well-organized with weird hobbies.
Since they musically coordinate mainly with drummers and together provide the rhythmic backbone of the music, they often have the “low-key king” mindset—just like drummers.
🥁 And finally, I can honestly say I’ve never met a drummer with a mean attitude. They’re always friendly, in a good mood, and focused on what really matters: there’s rock and roll to play.
Drummers also get the best girls. No question.
Does this match your experience with bands?😁

Note: Please read this just for fun. I actually love all these kinds of weirdos and enjoy the variability of characters. For we all share the same passion for playing music.
