For the past few years, I’ve started to view guitars and music gear for what they really are. Tools. Tools of expression, tools to get a certain sound, tools to inspire, tools of creativity. The aesthetic thing is a bit fuzzy and subjective, although that kind of gets into the inspiration realm. I suppose it all comes down to whatever turns our crank as musicians, as artists, and gives us the passion, drive and excitement to do what we want to do, and say what we want to say. It’s an individual expressive thing, different and unique between people. But to get inspiration from a specific musical instrument is an interesting phenomenon. A wild thing.
