I am reading a set of three philosophical lectures and the speaker has introduced the idea that humans are unique or special. This hiving off of human beings is not something I like for it often leads to the idea that the rest of life on earth is subject to the special human life. As a consequence, that "lesser" life can be, and often is, sacrificed for the sake of the "higher" human life.
That's dead wrong. Our fate will be nature's fate. It's all tied together.
