Thanks for bringing 2001 to my attention.🙏🏻😀👍 I vaguely recall seeing it some time ago, and at that time doing some spot-checks?🤔
I just did a few quick rechecks. One was great (2001 actually TRANSLATES Χριστός/Christ as Annointed One), but another check shows a STRONG bias toward statism (Romans 13, 1 Peter 2).
2001, along with most others, gratuitously inserts "away" into 2 Thessalonians 1:9--a clear theological bias.
Admirably, it does really translate (rather than transliterate) ἄγγελος / angel as "messenger," βαπτίζω / baptize as "dip" or "immerse," διάκονος / deacon as "servant," and εὐαγγέλιον / gospel as "good news."
It's "congregation" for ἐκκλησία / ecclesia is FAR better than "church," and "shepherd" much better than "pastor," and it even properly renders Ἰουδαῖος / Judaios as "Judeans" rather than "Jews" in key places.
I love that 2001 doesn't hide God's personal name.💖
I don't like going with modern units of measure, as this obscures strongly symbolically significant numbers.
I like what I've seen of the logic in choice of source manuscripts.😃
So, after a very superficial review, I see clear value in what's been done, though I'm not at all happy with the statist spin; I should probably weigh in on that.
I would love to hear your take on it.🙏🏻😀🤔
I consider honest, consistent translation of scripture to be of critical importance in getting the ecclesia back on mission to advance the Kingdom of God in this age.
