It's always amusing to me when country rulers condemn things their country did so long ago that hardly anybody is even alive to remember it.
Granted I'm probably not someone whose ancestors were oppressed in any systemic way (unless 23andme suddenly decides I'm 1% black), but it seems to me like it'd be worth more to put a little something in the national curriculum about it and maybe give a little cash to the descendants if they ask for it. Instead of just "sorry this country did a really bad thing 80 years ago, here's me officially apologizing to the five elderly still around from it, and I will do nothing else".
