An interesting tidbit in my research on the affogato for our early summer How To. I make a lot of reference to Starbuck's famous Frappuccino in that article. The frappuccino obliterated the affogato's position in cafes when it was introduced.

But Starbucks didn't invent the frappuccino. They bought the recipe from the fellow who did, along with his entire coffee business.

That fellow is George Howell, the father of specialty coffee on the US east coast.
