now that I've closed the feedback loop, I feel like I can say that the privileges-in-predation that a man like Elon has received are essentially DEI for immigrants. from my American perspective, it's not much different than the way immigrants from other countries were given excess privilege under the Biden Administration, which did also shield Elon himself from prosecution on civil and potentially criminal matters.
the Trump administration is expected to do the same because of right-wing DEI, and because he's the Golden Boy of Immigrants. but on a personal level, I, as an American woman, find it quite alarming that we have yet to understand assimilation from the perspective of the assimilated. that is, I am further along the spectrum of assimilation than he is. I do not owe a less-assimilated immigrant my empathy if they do infringe on my Constitutional rights.
this may sound wrong, but it is true, because my family has done the long-term work of assimilation. I come from not one but TWO military families. whether rich or not, Elon's deprivation of American privilege might just boil down to that fact.
if you didn't know, I once made a joke about deporting his dogs and I think this was potentially the most offensive thing I've ever said. but in the realm of established American families are those children of a movement who was unlike this new ZioTechnocracy which the right has taken in like an abandoned baby.
we have former Daily Wire influencers who are far more accepting of this than even we are. we seem very staunch compared to the New Right, which is essentially Silicon Valley's wet dream after they've pummeled through the willing feminists and soybois. but it's not so much staunchness as it is this simple fact: our families are far more assimilated than most of Silicon Valley's imports ever will be. and this matters.
it matters in terms of understanding culture, it matters in terms of politics and policy. just as a white British national would not want me coming to the UK and demanding that the entire culture mold itself around me, American nationals – and especially the well-established, non-dual passport holder ones – don't want an army of immigrants led by Rocket Washington defining Americana.
his views are ultimately a bit wonky and lack deep context and understanding of American culture because he was part of that immigrant mafia of sorts. they did not have America's best interests at heart and now even Google is in controlled demolition mode. Silicon Valley itself had lost its American core by importing so many immigrants, and now it's desperate to regain its gold star through the Trump-Musk Admin.
so, I think we should all be very wary of this and, ok, let the man praise himself in front of the choir every day, but remember that it is now the Trump admin which is preparing to defend his long history of malfeasance under the premise that he never did a thing to anyone. well, look, I am no such Amber Heard accuser. I am very specific on my allegations being in the vein of Anti-Trust Monopolization of the tech industry and the extrajudicial and defamatory weaponization of both the government AND private industry.
