Enjoyed this teardown of a modern streetlight by Big Clive. Look at the size of the LEDs. Little clusters that produce (probably) too much light. Many modern lamps can be programed remotely, we can customize color, light cone, intensity & more.
This tech ought to make light pollution easier to fight. For example, red street lights could save many insects.
When I teach scientific notation I ask, & so many of my students have never seen the Milky Way.
