Agreed, the whole reason Tesla is even going that route is they are preparing for a WEF model economy in the sense you hail driverless vehicles you don't even own for transport.
So I refuse to buy a vehicle that's already including optimizations for something nightmarish like that. I like my 20 year old Toyota just fine. It's simple to work on. The parts are widely available. I know good mechanics and don't mind cranking wrenches when I need to save a buck. It doesn't have a remote kill switch and with the upgrade schedule I've dotted out, I could turn it into a vehicle that gets close to 1000 miles in range on 30 gallons of diesel.
