My parents pretty much always supported me. They were unequipped with the knowledge of how to achieve success in hard job market conditions, though, and I was at times too shy to speak up for my needs. I still did more of that than a lot of people, but all the same, I made an error when it came to this. Generally, nothing good comes of not speaking up for yourself when you really want something that you have really considered. That was my fatal flaw.
