I know the book you're talking about and it seemed a little sus to me so I didn't read it. Good to know my instincts were right at least on this.

Part of why I liked the work is because I'm fond of Leibniz as a philosopher (and tbh as a math person I kinda have to rep him). He was one of the OG European Sinologists as well so it was very interesting reading his take on Chinese stuff as well, since Chinese stuff is also something I've been interested in.
