TIL that iCloud Drive has a “Remove Download” option on the context menu. That must be new. One of the reasons I’ve been using Microsoft OneDrive is because it has much more control over whether the files exist locally (thus, you can free up space). Previously, iCloud Drive only freed up space for you, as needed, so you had no control over it.
If iCloud Drive somehow has Spotlight searching of docs that aren’t downloaded, I might consider switching most of my docs to it.
