Wesley Hilliard on Nostr: I talk about it on the podcast this week but I'll say it here. I don't like that ...

I talk about it on the podcast this week but I'll say it here. I don't like that Trump won and I don't like that Tim Cook joined the other shithead CEOs to congratulate him on the Nazi network. This is all true.

But, are we surprised? I've seen a lot of "fuck that guy, fuck Tim Cook" as if this wasn't something that was going to happen. I see it less as bootlicking as I see it a normal expectation for the CEO of America's most profitable company. Is that ideal? No. But do we honestly expect Tim Cook to act any differently in this situation? He didn't ignore Trump in the last presidency, why would he now?

Like I said, it also leaves a bad taste in my mouth that this interaction happens at all. But the thing that I'm confused about is the reaction to it. Are people really surprised?

It's the same confusion I get when I see people expect Cook to single-handedly take on China and end authoritarianism there. Just so unrealistic.

Maybe I'm naive, but it's the reaction I have. I don't get it.
