back in my day we didn't have gender segregated running competitions. the boys and girls ran together. isn't the whole idea of segregating girls and treating them like they are not worthy of competing against boys a little sexist anyway?
unless you're at the top professional levels or it's a heavy contact sport these hormone and body fat differences between women and men are really not a serious concern.
