Accepting Transcript Proofreading Clients
---

I've spent the last 3-4 weeks setting up my transcript proofreading business.

* Web pages finished.
* Rate sheet done.
* New client packet complete.
* Cold email & DM templates ready to go.

Then I had to spend two weeks learning Facebook's professional tools. I had to set up another personal account and create a page, try to use Meta Business Suite, and more. The Instagram is still not hooked up (it just won't link.)

Per the instructions, I've attempted to join several groups where court reporters hang out.

Two interesting things have occurred:

1. Odd group behavior. Some groups won't let me in (especially one of the crucial ones) and others won't let me self-promote even while actively letting others do so. I hadn't considered either of those those possibilities when I got into this. I thought the leaders of the groups would uphold their rules and not selectively apply them.

2. I'm still not a reply-guy. 😂 I'm supposed to comment 10-50x a day in these groups. Except others have already commented a correct answer or stance and it would not be adding value for me to parrot what they're saying just to say so. That, and/or many of the posts are other people self-promoting.

Marketing this way could still work, but I had an idea.

Why don't I just reach out to them in ways that are best for me?

Why don't I just start writing court reporting agencies and reporters handwritten letters?

So, I acted on this idea. Near immediately.

When I did, I ended up at the post office, at a restaurant (unplanned), stopping in for an eye exam (not planned), purchasing three new pairs of eye glasses (not planned!), and finally getting some stationery.

Arriving home, I felt proud of my haul and getting necessary things done, but I suddenly felt overwhelmed.

Maverick was grumpy, I was frustrated with Facebook, and the events of the family gathering earlier this week still bother me. After putting the paper goods away, I realized I still have all this social media stuff to do.

* Where do I start?
* What's going to make the greatest impact?
* What about all the other stuff I still can't seem to get to?

On nights like these, I do what I can. And lately, I've found myself putting away everything and settling in with my #Zettlekasten box.

I also recently purchased a course from a Muslim business creator I've been wanting to work through. I have a feeling it will shine light on some of my missing pieces.

I feel shy about posting in the Facebook groups. I've followed the rules but have still been denied or shut out. The random restrictions on my account and page on a regular basis are pretty weird too.

It'll be fine once I get my first few clients. That's how it works. I just have to get there.

*If you're a court reporter, I'd love to proofread your transcripts for you.*

In the meantime, I suppose I have some #letters to write.
