First and foremost, hello and welcome to nostr, glad you are checking it out. To answer your question well you aren’t interacting with the platform as much as the protocol on nostr. You may be using a platform like Damus, primal, or any of the hundred or so other apps that run on nostr, but it all interacts with the nostr protocol, which means that all the follows and followers you have, all your notes and replies you make: they all follow you to every other platform running on nostr. So if you want to change from amethyst if you were running an android phone to damus because you get an iPhone or vise versa, you still have all your data. Beyond the social media aspect, if you use one of the blogging platforms like blogstack or hablo, your followers are there too, you can post your video stream from zap stream to all the same followers. And probably the best part is, set up a lightning address to your profile and anyone can tip you directly to you profile or to an individual note or reply that you made. Nostr isn’t a competitor to X, nostr is a competitor for the World Wide Web, everyday there are new apps being developed on nostr that take the place of a function of a legacy app, we have encrypted messaging apps, blogging platforms, social media, video streaming, video conferencing, audio conferencing, wikis, music streaming, video hosting, podcatchers, market places, and app stores… all decentralized, able to run off the existing internet and now I believe they are able to access some through radio bands using LoRa or at least they are working on it currently.
