The fruit of a kousa dogwood (Cornus kousa). These are just getting ripe now, and they're edible. They're very sweet, and it only recently dawned on me that their texture is similar to "Circus Peanuts" (a sugary candy that's shaped like giant peanuts). There's a tree right across the street from the physics building, and I sometimes stop to snack from it.
